HLTAID009 - Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation
In day to day life, in the workplace, in the community or at home, you may be confronted by a life-threatening emergency such as someone experiencing Cardiac Arrest.
Quick decision making and knowledge on what to do could save someone’s life.
Increase the chance of survival by calling an ambulance and performing potentially lifesaving cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), including using a defibrillator, until emergency services arrive to take over.
The course is delivered in line with the Australian Resuscitation Council guidelines and applies to all workers or members of the community who may be required to provide CPR in the event of an emergency.
This is Nationally Recognised Training.
A Statement of Attainment will be issued following successful completion of this course from our partner Allens Training Pty Ltd RTO 90909.
It is recommended by the Australian Resuscitation Council that this unit be renewed yearly.
This course is conducted in house at the First Aid Courses Toowoomba Training Centre, or we can come to you for bookings of five or more.
Participants must have the physical capacity to perform the practical demonstrations, such as 2 minutes of uninterrupted CPR on the floor.Â
Pre-course study: Â Students may be required to undertake online pre-course work prior to attending the face to face session depending on the course delivery mode.
Online study: Â Students must have access to a computer, smartphone, tablet or other electronic devices with access to the internet to complete the online/ pre-course studies.
- Online with Face to Face minimum duration – 50 minutes.
- Refresher minimum duration – 90 minutes.
- Blended minimum duration – 90 minutes.
- Face to Face minimum duration – 2 hours.
Individuals undertaking this course will be expected to complete both written and practical assessment tasks.
Assessments conducted during face-to-face training session(s) include:
Performance tasks – The assessor must observe the following performance tasks and practical scenarios:
- Simulated First Aid Scenario – perform CPR on an adult, including the use of an AED and placing a casualty into the recover position.
- Perform CPR on an infant.
Theory assessment – A written assessment consisting of multiple-choice questions. The student must successfully complete all assessment questions.
It is recommended that renewal for this course is undertaken annually (every year).
Course cost $70, discounts may apply for bookings of Five or more students.
Payment Terms – Payment for individual participants is upfront, group booking payment terms are based on agreement between the client and First Aid Courses Toowoomba.

No work placement will be required as part of this course.
